Carlton ColeRonny Deila has revealed that Carlton Cole’s comeback has been further delayed by an injury picked up in training.

The 32-year-old was just returned from an extended break in London for personal reasons but won’t feature in tomorrow’s match at home to Hearts.

Cole has only started one match since joining Celtic with Deila revealing that the one time Chelsea striker has suffered another set-back.

“He is back but he got injured yesterday so we’ll need to wait and see on that,” the Celtic boss replied after being asked about the striker.

After signing an 20 month deal in October Cole said: “When Celtic called and said they wanted me, I just ran over. Being at Celtic is not about the money for me, it’s about wearing the shirt with pride.

Celtic are in a great position to win trophies and I want to add that to my career.”

After taking Cole on trial Deila said: “You need someone who has different skills than the players we have and Carlton has that, so we will see what happens there but that type of player is what we have been looking for.

At the moment he is in London. Maybe he will come back again next week. I don’t know for sure what is happening.

“He hasn’t played football for a long time so it will take time for him to get going again but he has been consistent in the Premier League for a long time and he has a lot of the qualities that we are looking for in matches like today.

“He was very positive with everything about Celtic. He has been to the games here and he sees opportunities to score a lot of goals here.”
