Paranoid Mark Warburton has revealed that people within Ibrox have told him that Sevco are hated by Aberdeen.
The former city trader, who used to be at his desk from 8am to 10pm every day, was reacting to comments from Shay Logan that the Ibrox club wouldn’t be challenging for net season’s Premiership title.
With £20m of IOU’s piled up and no meaningful income outside of matchday revenue streams it looks like Warbo will have his work cut out to deliver the Champions League expectations around Ibrox.
In three weeks time Dom Ball, Billy King and Gedion Zelalem will return to their parent club while Nicky Clark, Dean Shiels, Nicky Law and David Templeton will be out of contract with no sign of new deals being offered.
Warbo must replace those seven players in time for the Premiership but finds himself surrounded by people steeped in hate throughout the club.
Asked yesterday about next season’s challenges the former Brentford supremo said: “You have to be excited by going to the likes of Aberdeen.
“They are tough places to go and all I hear from people is – and I was sure they were being paranoid is – ‘they hate us and they hate us and by the way they hate us as well.’
“Who doesn’t hate us?!
“But there are great places like Aberdeen to go. We know they are tough opponents who battle hard and have European experience and are really well managed by Derek McInnes.”
While Warbo surrounds himself in paranoia nice guy Paul Murray is hoping to build bridges and create friendships throughout Scottish football.
Last December the freshly blazered Murray said: “I think we have to do our bit as well. It’s not a one-way street. I think we have to engage in Scottish football and we have to engage with others.
“I said at the very outset when I got back on the board that we had to get Rangers back into mainstream society.”
