Michael DuffyLoan bhoy Michael Duffy put a dampener on Sevco’s title party by scoring the opening goal as Alloa drew 1-1 at Ibrox today.

Duffy joined Celtic from Derry City in January 2015 but was sent on loan to Alloa at the start of the season without making a top team appearance.

Life at the bottom of the Championship hasn’t proved to be much fun with the 21-year-old having to wait until February 27 to score his first goal- in a 3-1 home defeat to Livingston.

With Alloa’s relegation confirmed Duffy scored the only goal of the game in the recent win over Hibs with Jack Ross’s side expected to be turned over at Ibrox today.

After forming a guard of honour to Mark Warburton’s gladiators Duffy opened the scoring after eight minutes with a low shot past Wesley Foderingham from the edge of the penalty box.

Andrew Halliday missed the penalty in the 41st minute but just before half time James Tavernier equalised for the home side.

Connor McManus replaced Graeme Holmes on the hour mark having turned out for Celtic in the Development League against Falkirk in midweek.

There was no scoring in the second half as Alloa earned their second draw of the season against Sevco.

Duffy and McManus will return to Celtic at the end of the season with the new manager being greeted by the biggest squad in history.

Thirty four players have played in the SPFL Premiership this season with Liam Henderson, Anthony Stokes, Aidan Nesbitt, Darnell Fisher, Eoghan O’Connell, Stuart Findlay, Jamie Lindsay. Calum Waters, Paul McMullan, Stefan Scepovic and Nadir Ciftci all scheduled to return from loan spells.
