Loch Lomond FestivalCeltic’s u-17 side buried Kilmarnock with six second half goals to muscle in on top place in the table.

Mikey Johnston, Max Potter, Jack Aitchison, Keiran Campbell, Innes Murray and Grant Thorburn were on target to follow on from Wednesday’s 5-0 win over Hibs.

Overage midfielder Murray came into the side to team up with Lewis Bell in the middle of the park and imposed himself on the match playing a part in four of the goals.

The Kilmarnock goal led a charmed life during the first half with the hoops coming close on a number of occasions as they poured forward at will with Aitchison linking well with the attacking midfielders as the chances were created.

After the break Celtic found their edge with the deadlock broken in the 50th minute. Murray broke down a Kilmarnock move and quickly fed the ball to Euan Henderson, his pass to Aitchison was met with a flick over the Killie defence with Johnston finding the net with a low drive.

Five minutes later Henderson and Murray combined down the left with the cut-back met by Potter who showed his scoring instinct to find the net from eight yards out.

Kilmarnock’s heads went down after that double blow with the homeside well in command and pushing forward down both flanks at every opportunity.

Henderson was involved again with the third goal with Murray dummying his cut-back allowing Aitchison to crack home a low shot for the third goal of the afternoon just past the hour mark.

Substitute Campbell scored the fourth goal of the afternoon when he raced in at the back post to smack a shot into the net off a Killie defender from Johnston’s cross.

Nine minutes from time Murray got the goal that his play deserved when he sent home a shot from the edge of the box with substitute Thorburn completing the scoring from a similar distance after Kilmarnock had failed to clear a corner from the right.

CELTIC: McAdams; Bowers (Deas 81), Welsh, Potter, Church (Thornburn 80); Bell, Murray; McLauglin (Campbell 66), Johnston (Antonazzi 81), Henderson; Aitchison (Mearns 80)
