Within a week of being officially welcomed to Celtic Brendan Rodgers is being celebrated in song by hoops fans.

John McGreevy posted a video of supporters in Santa Ponsa chanting the song, to the same tune as Here I Am Lord, with 30,000 views already clocked up.

The appointment of the former Liverpool manager has created an outbreak of optimism and excitement among Celtic supporters following two weary years under Ronny Deila.

Rodgers played the crowd to perfection when he visited Celtic Park on Monday with 13,000 fans cheering his every word as the Irishman clutched a green and white scarf.

With Chris Davies and Glen Driscoll added to the backroom staff supporters are looking forward to the first signing of the new management team although departures look more likely than arrivals.

Rodgers has inherited a first team squad that stretches to around 30 players with only Charlie Mulgrew and Darnell Fisher out of contract.

Fisher is likely to be in demand in England but Rodgers is keen to get round the table and discuss a new deal for Mulgrew who is currently on Scotland duty.

Speaking earlier this week the versatile 30-year-old said: “It was brilliant to take a call from the new gaffer. I’ve always said I’m happy at Celtic, that I love playing for the club, and that I wanted to get things sorted out.

That hasn’t changed, so it’s great to have Brendan Rodgers tell me directly he wants to keep me.

He texted me late on Tuesday night, and then we had a conversation on Wednesday afternoon which was fantastic.

Nothing has been agreed, we still need to sit around the table and agree a contract. But we had a good chat, and hopefully we can now get things sorted out.”
