GuidettiThree days before Sweden face Ireland in Paris John Guidetti has had a playground bust up with Albin Ekdal.

Guidetti is battling with Marcus Berg to partner Zlatan Ibrahimovic and took things too literally when he squared up to Ekdal in training.

Swedish number 2 Peter Wettergren was also involved with Sweden forced to go behind closed doors for Saturday’s training stint.

Asked about Friday’s clash Berg said: “It happens in the club side every day. It doesn’t happen in the national team that often, but it does happen occasionally in small-sided games.

There are bad losers – and bad winners who mock them. Some take it harder than others.”

Monday’s match is shaping up as highly important for both teams with Belgium and Italy also to be faced in Group E.

Ibrahimovic will pose the main threat to Ireland with Martin O’Neill reminded yesterday of a quote from 2006 when he told a TV audience that the Swedish striker was the most over rated player in the planet.

“That was in 2006, wasn’t it,” the Ireland boss recalled. “That’s how many years, 10, a decade, in which someone is likely to improve.

“He may well have been the most over-rated player in the game at the time but is certainly not now. Some players are allowed to improve in 10 years.

“I was put right (at the time), don’t worry about that, because I spoke to Johann Mjallby and Henrik Larsson who told me regardless that he was a very fine player – and I was prepared to believe them.”
