Mikael Lustig will find out later today whether he will be able to take any further part in Euro 2016.

The Celtic defender was substituted during the first half of Monday’s 1-1 draw with Ireland and has already been ruled out of Friday’s match against Italy.

Lustig has been dogged by injury over the last two seasons will get a scan later today to decide whether he will be fit for the final group match against Belgium.

I felt pain when I went up for a header,” he explained. “I will have a scan and we will see how bad it is then.

I hope this is a long competition for Sweden and I have a feeling this won’t be my last game. I hope to be ready for the Belgium game but I will know more after the scan.”

It took a late own goal from Ciaran Clark to deny Ireland full points after Wes Hoolihan had opened the scoring just after half time.

Ireland had the bulk of play and created more chances leaving Martin O’Neill dejected by the dropped points but heartened by his side’s performance.

“We have got the two games coming up, very, very tough matches against two sides who are pretty classy, O’Neill admitted. “But again if I can take anything from the performance tonight, it is just that the players looked accomplished, which was great.

“We have desire, we have a never-say-die spirit, but I thought they looked accomplished and I think that’s players growing into international football, which helps.”
