Republic of Ireland v Bosnia & Herzegovina - UEFA Euro 2016 Qualifying Play-Off Second LegMartin O’Neill has warned France that they’ll have to be at their best to beat Ireland to a place in the last eight of the European Championships.

The two nations meet this afternoon in Lyon with the Irish on a high after Robbie Brady’s late winner against Italy.

O’Neill has tended to go with a safety first outlook in most big matches but has shown a willingness to attack as this campaign has developed with wins over Germany and Italy knocked up.

Asked about his approach to today’s match the Ireland boss said: “You want to go blazing and want to try stay in it because we feel we can do something.

We’ll go with some confidence into the game, which is the most important thing for us, on the back of the performance against Italy, which is good. They feel they can win it.

“I think the players have recovered in time to show the same zeal and same energy, then we will be ready for it.”

Asked about his side’s opponents French boss Didier Deschamps said: “They’ve got a lot of heart, they work hard, but it’s not just that. There are some good footballers within the team. The large majority of them play in the Premier League, they are used to playing against the top English sides.”

The winners of today’s match will face the winners of the England v Iceland match for a place in the semi-final’s, yesterday Wales booked their place in the last eight with a 1-0 win over Northern Ireland.
