Brendan RodgersCeltic will use a 4-3-3 formation in tonight’s friendly against NK Celje as Brendan Rodgers takes charge of the club for the first time.

Ronny Deila’s insistence on playing 4-2-3-1 turned supporters away in their droves as a pedestrian midfield largely failed to break with flair and pace to support a sole striker.

Kristoffer Ajer makes his Celtic debut tonight playing alongside Erik Sviatchenko in the centre of defence flanked by Keiran Tierney and Darnell Fisher.

Another of last season’s sufferers, Scott Allan, starts in central midfield with Ryan Christie and James Forrest selected to support Leigh Griffiths.

A number of substitutions are likely as the new Celtic boss assesses his squad with two weeks to go before the opening Champions League qualifier.

Looking forward to tonight’s match Rodgers said: “Everyone is settled in, the players have worked well over the last couple of days, the weather’s great and the hotel is very nice so it has started great.

There’s always a feel good factor and it’s also a change of environment. The camp is really about working hard, first and foremost, and gives the staff a chance to implement ideas and formulate that relationship on the field but also that team-building off the pitch as well.

The players are with each other a lot of hours in the day and they get a chance to talk and let new players integrate so all in all, when you come away to these sort of training camps, if you use the time well they can be very useful.”

CELTIC (4-3-3) Gordon; Fisher, Ajer, Sviatchenko, Tierney; Johansen, Bitton, Allan; Christie, Griffiths Forrest.

SUBS: Fasan; Ralston, O’Connell, McCart, Janko, Henderson, McGregor, Roberts, Rogic, Armstrong, Ciftci
