Zlatan Ibrahimovic disappointed Manchester United fans by refusing to confirm that he will be at Old Trafford next season.
Tuesday had been expected to be the day of the big announcement but the Swedish striker spent his time promoting his A-Z clothing range.
Despite regularly stating that his dream is to play at Celtic Park it has been assumed by many that he would sign for Manchester United to star in ‘the greatest league in the world’.
Yesterday came and went without any agreement to join up with Jose Mourinho leaving the footballing public still waiting to discover where the 34-year-old will be playing next season.
“There is no confirmation,” he revealed at the fashion launch, assuming that the question had come from a journalist rather than a fan.
“You are a journalist, no? There is no saying ‘yes’ or saying ‘no’ so you will have to have patience.
“I want you to keep wondering where I will go, keep making stories because I enjoy when these stories go out. When I feel tired I will let you know what my next destination is.”
Discussing the sky-high salaries being paid to elite players he added: “For me, players are bought on the market who shouldn’t even be there but it’s the market that decides the prices and not passion or the media. And whether it’s ‘a lot’ or not is not my problem.
“My concern is to see what the market says. The market says: ‘that, that’s your price.’ This is what the market says.
“If another player earns so much and I’m 10 times better than him, how much does that add up to? Ten times more.”
Asked about staying on at PSG the striker explained: “If I wanted, I could’ve stayed five more years. There comes a point where you’ve done everything. Mission accomplished.”
