Brendan RodgersMoussa Dembele is in Glasgow for a medical ahead of becoming Brendan Rodgers first signing.

The 19-year-old Fulham striker first emerged as a Celtic transfer target at the weekend with Rodgers moving quickly to complete the deal.

If all goes to schedule Dembele will fly out to Slovenia tomorrow to meet up with his new team-mates with Celtic’s first competitive match of the season just two weeks away.

According to a report in The Scottish Sun: “MOUSSA DEMBELE will today clinch a stunning move to Celtic.

The sought-after Fulham striker is in Glasgow for a medical and, assuming there are no issues, will put pen to paper on a surprise switch to the Hoops – as first revealed by SunSport on Saturday.

Celtic have been able to pick up the French Under-20 starlet for a six-figure compensation fee, given he is out of contract, and have beaten some of Europe’s biggest clubs to the punch to land their top target.”

Dembele scored 17 times last season but it was only in the closing weeks of the season that Fulham pulled themselves clear of relegation. Fifteen of those goals came in The Championship with Ross McCormack the leading scorer at Craven Cottage with 21 league goals.

With Dembele out of contract Celtic only have to pay a nominal development fee while a transfer within England would involve a much higher compensation fee.

Speaking last week about Celtic moving for Dembele McCormack said: “If Celtic manage to sign Moussa, that will be a real coup for them,’ said McCormack. ‘Wherever he ends up this summer, it will be at a good club.

I would think Celtic will be doing well to get him. He is 19 years old and, halfway through his first full season playing in our team, he nearly went to Spurs.”
