Former Celtic striker Carlton Cole seems to have turned his attention to politics rather than finding a new club.

The former England internationalist had a forgettable time in the hoops after signing for Ronny Deila with his signature song more memorable than his limited appearances.

As a Londoner Cole was shaken by the BREXIT vote but after this week’s drama in the Conservative Party the former Celt is hoping that Prime Minister Theresa May can make a quick impact on the chaotic political battleground.

Congratulations to our new Prime Minister Theresa May, it’s not going to be easy with a lot of challenges ahead but Good Luck all the same,” he tweeted.

Looking at the vote to quit the EU Cole tweeted: “Not sure if it’s possible or too late now but the UK should do everything possible to stay in the EU. Hopefully we don’t trigger article 50.

It seems to me we left the EU without a plan going forward. I haven’t seen anything suggesting we have left for the better.”

Cole joined Celtic in October 2015 after a short spell on loan but failed to start a single Premiership match.

His one and only goal as a Celtic player came in the 3-0 Scottish Cup win away to Stranraer with his last appearance coming a few weeks later as a substitute in the 8-0 home win over Hamilton Accies.

The 32-year-old striker picked up 19 caps for the England u-21 side before collecting seven full caps.
