Jack Breslin is looking to fast track his way into the Hamilton side.

The 19-year-old was freed by Celtic at the end of last season and was quickly offered a deal by Martin Canning.

Ziggy Gordon’s move to Partick Thistle has created a vacancy at right-back with Breslin looking to make an early impact at his new club.

Hamilton is a club that gives young players a chance,” he told the Daily Record. “And that was what attracted me to here, because I had a couple of offers.

Hopefully I’ll get a chance, before the gaffer makes a few signings, to show him what I’m made of.

My best position is probably right-back, it’s a chance to make that my own now that Ziggy Gordon has gone, and Hamilton are limited for right-backs at the moment.

I don’t know if the gaffer is looking to bring in a new one or not, but it’s up to me to go and prove to him that I’m good enough.”

Looking back at his time with Celtic he added: ““I had a three-year deal at Celtic, the three years were up, and they decided not to give me a new contract.

I was disappointed with that, considering they told me I was getting a new one, but it is what it is, and you move on – it’s football.

I just need to work hard every day, hopefully catch the manager’s eye, and try to make the move into the first team.”

Breslin spent the second half of last season on loan at Annan Athletic.
