Brendan Rodgers expects to complete the signing of Kolo Toure tomorrow.

The former Liverpool defender arrived in Glasgow this morning and watched from the stand as Celtic lost to Leicester City in a penalty shoot out following a 1-1 draw.

Toure has been linked with Celtic all through the transfer window with Rodgers delighted to be linking up again with the experienced defender.

Hopefully by tomorrow that will be done,” the Celtic boss said to Sky Sports.”It will be great for us, I took him to Liverpool, he has experience and you could see the impact he had for them. He was a real stalwart towards the end and helped them to the Europa League Final.

He looks after himself well, that’ll be completed tomorrow and he’ll be an invaluable player for us.”

Looking back on the match that ended with a penalty shoot out win for the English champions Rodgers added: “We saw the quality of Leicester but I felt that our players were excellent, they are in-between games in the Champions League qualifiers but there was a good intensity to our play.

To be behind and come back was pleasing, it was an excellent goal from young Eoghan, one that we deserved.”

With the game against Astana in mind Rodgers left Erik Sviachenko out of his squad and decided to go with a back three of Saidy Janko, Eoghan O’Connell and Mikael Lustig.

After a goal-less first half Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring in the 47th minute but O’Connell levelled for Celtic in the 59th minute.

With the scores level after 90 minutes a penalty shoot out was used to decide the outcome with Kasper Schmeichel saving the decisive spot kick from James Forrest.
