Gullible Sevco fans are putting their cash on ROBIN VAN PERSIE joining Mark Warburton’s Sevco revolution!

With no transfer fees paid out during the close season Dave King retains full control of his transfer war-chest.

Van Persie is expected to be on the move from Fenerbahce after an unhappy season in Turkish football after agreeing an incredible £240,000/week deal after leaving Manchester United.

West Ham and Stoke City have been linked with a move for the striker but matching those wages is the major stumbling block even for clubs picking up Premiership television money.

How Sevco could live with that wage packet- and entice the Dutchman to play alongside Joey Barton, Kenny Miller and Danny Wilson- is anyone’s guess but yesterday Skybet had the club from Ibrox as favourites to sign the striker!

Skybet had a move to Sevco at 4/9 followed by Middlesbrough at 10/1 with PSG out at 14/1 and Barcelona outsiders at 22/1.

If van Persie does sign up he’ll have to battle it out with Martyn Waghorn, Miller and new signing Joe Doodo for the strikers role at Ibrox.

While Waghorn has so far refused to sign a contract extension Miller signed a 12 month agreement at the end of last season with Doodo recruited last week from Leicester.

While that trio of top marksmen have got SPFL defenders having sleepless nights the arrival of van Persie would clearly be a game changer.

It is unlikely that Fenerbahce would be looking for a transfer fee with the Turkish side happy to cut their losses and reduce their wage bill.
