Jamie Lindsay didn’t take long to make an impression at Morton with the loan Celt opening the scoring in the second minute of their 2-0 Betfred Cup win over Berwick Rangers.

The midfielder’s move to Cappielow was only confirmed on Thursday night but that didn’t seem to be any problem as he opened the scoring with Jay Quitongo doubling the lead in the 16th minute.

With three wins and a draw Jim Duffy’s side topped group H of the Betfred Cup with the Morton boss pleased to have Lindsay on board.

Discussing the signing of Lindsay he said: “I saw Jamie last season when he went to Dumbarton for the second half of the campaign and I thought he done well. It also means that he is coming to us with a bit of experience of the Championship too.

We all know that Celtic’s midfield is hugely congested at the minute so I don’t think anyone should see it as a negative that the boy is coming here to get some first-team football – this is reality.

We can be good for him and he can be good for us. Last season we had a lot of young players that we gave chances to and a clutch of them moved on – that is because they got the chance to play competitive football every week and there is no substitute for that.”

Michael Duffy demonstrated to Dundee fans that there is life beyond Kane Hemmings with the loan Celt scoring in the first half as Paul Hartley’s side crushed Forfar 7-0.

Despite missing a penalty in the shoot out Fiacre Kelleher was celebrating as Peterhead beat Dumbarton on penalties to top Group A ahead of Dundee and East Fife.
