Celtic will face Everton tomorrow in the final of the NI Super Cup at Ballymena.

Last night Tommy McIntyre’s side beat Real Sociedad 3-1 to set up the clash with Everton who beat Espanyol 1-0.

A double from Calvin Miller and a late strike from Jamie Lindsay booked Celtic’s place in the final of the u-21 competition with the hoops playing a side mainly consisting of u-19’s.

Sociedad took the lead just before half time when a shot deflected off Sam Wardrop to find it’s way past Ross Doohan but a double from Miller before the hour mark put Celtic in front and looking forward to Saturday’s final against Everton.

After three friendlies against Scottish senior sides the Super Cup fixtures provide the Development squad with a different challenge as they gear up for the new season.

The SPFL Development League doesn’t start until August 26 but on August 2 Celtic face Annan Athletic in the Irn Bru Cup.

Celtic are entering the competition for the first time with McIntyre keen to make an impact in the event which will also feature teams from Northern Ireland and Wales from the last 16.

“It’s going to be a challenge, all respect to Annan, they’re a tough team,” the Celtic coach said.

We had one or two players loaned there from last year and we’ve seen them play so it’ll be a big ask, but it’s a challenge for our young players and hopefully we’ll take it. We’re looking forward to it.

Looking at the draw, respect to all the clubs, it was going to be a tough game no matter who we got but Annan have done well in the league over the past few seasons and I know the coaching staff well.

We’ll certainly do our homework, we’ll have them watched and it’s about attention to detail. We’ve got a good pre-season lined up so come the game everyone should be ready to go. We’ll do our preparation, as will they.”

CELTIC: Doohan; Ralston (Higgins 87), Wardrop, Kelleher, McIlduff; Lindsay, Thomson; Nesbitt (Hill 85), Hendry (Murray) 83), Miller (Archibald 81); Aitchison (Crossan 52)
