You can watch Celtic’s Development side live against Real Sociedad in the Northern Ireland Super Cup, formerly known as the Milk Cup.
Tommy McIntyre’s squad get their first taste of continental opposition tonight when they face the Spanish side at Ballymena before facing Everton or Espanyol in Saturday’s final or third place play-off.
The tournament is another part of the build up towards an Irn Bru Cup tie against Annan Athletic as Celtic take part in the Challenge Cup for the first time.
A successful run in that knock out competition will provide the younger players with invaluable experience of lower league football up against professionals playing for their win bonus.
Anticipating the Annan tie on August 2 McIntyre told the Celtic website: “We’re excited to be part of the process. It’s going to be a challenge. All respect to Annan, they’re a tough team.
“We had one or two players loaned there from last year and we’ve seen them play so it’ll be a big ask, but it’s a challenge for our young players and hopefully we’ll take it. We’re looking forward to it.
“Looking at the draw, respect to all the clubs, it was going to be a tough game no matter who we got but Annan have done well in the league over the past few seasons and I know the coaching staff well.
“We’ll certainly do our homework, we’ll have them watched and it’s about attention to detail. We’ve got a good pre-season lined up so come the game everyone should be ready to go. We’ll do our preparation, as will they.”
Tonight’s action kicks off at 7.45pm.
