Celtic turned on the style to beat Real Sociedad 3-1 last night in the NI Super Cup.

Trailing 1-0 at half time two excellent striker goals from Calvin Miller put Celtic in front before a dazzling solo effort from Jamie Lindsay booked a final place against Everton.

The NI Super Cup has taken over from the Milk Cup and is the biggest footballing tournament held in the six counties.

Officially an u-21 event it was mainly an u-19 Celtic side that played last night with that age band used for the UEFA Youth League that the hoops took part in last season.

Eight minutes after the restart great close control by Aidan Nesbitt left the Sociedad defence wrong footed, when Nesbitt crossed into the box Miller darted in, allowed the ball to bounce then headed confidently into the net.

A few minutes later Miller showed great composure as he raced in on goal before drilling his shot into the net following a great pass from Regan Hendry.

That double strike seemed to sap the energy from the Sociedad side with Lindsay completing the scoring in the 71st minute with a low shot after drifting past a couple of defenders.

Go to 2 hours, 11 minutes and 40 seconds to see the goalsĀ

Celtic will now face Everton in Saturday’s final in a match that is bound to attract strong local interest to the Ballymena Showground.

David Unsworth is in charge of the Everton squad with the Goodison Academy acknowledged as one of the best in the business regularly developing first team players from Wayne Rooney through to Jack Rodwell.
