Celtic fans can beat the boredom of international football by watching the Celtic Colts in Irn Bru Cup action at Livingston on Saturday, kick off 5.15pm.

While the SPFL have called off the Premier League fixtures Tommy McIntyre’s side are in third round action at the Tony Macaroni arena.

So far Celtic have beaten Annan and Cowdenbeath with every other Colts team being knocked out by lower league opponents.

After the 2-1 win away to Cowdenbeath McIntyre said: “We knew exactly the way Cowdenbeath would play as we had watched them a few times and it was their home ground but I thought we stuck to the task.

I was a bit disappointed that we were a goal down in the first-half as I thought we created the better chances throughout the game, but there was always going to be that aerial threat from them because they had a couple of big lads up front and their set-plays were difficult for us.

I don’t think we did enough to stop the supply coming into the box but nonetheless, I thought it was a great reaction from the boys in the second-half.”

Yesterday Livingston lost their first league game of the season going down 1-0 to Queens Park at Hampden after opening the season with wins over Stranraer, Airdrie United and Stenhousemuir.

In the Betfred Cup they lost to St Mirren, Hamilton and Ayr United either side of a 3-0 win away to Edinburgh City.

The competition is still split geographically with all of the Championship sides now involved.

Elsewhere Celtic’s u-17 side won 5-0 away to Hibs today with Michael Johnstone scoring a hat trick with the other goals coming from Kerr McInroy and Paul Kennedy.
