The Green Brigade’s ‘matchfinepalestine’ campaign has brought Celtic fans worldwide attention from the football community and beyond.

In under two days £100,000 was raised with most donations ranging from £5 to £20 without any sugar daddies appearing.

Thanks to social media the campaign has reached far and wide bringing praise to the Green Brigade and appreciation that Celtic really is more than a club.

On their Go Fund Me page there are comments from all corners of the globe in defiance of UEFA who are expected to fine Celtic or impose other sanctions for the display of Palestine flags in the Champions League qualifier against Hapoel Beer Sheva.

Making his contribution Akos Horvath commented: “Heartwarming to see Celtic fans taking a stand against the oppression of the Palestinian people. Respect from Germany and Hungary! Interestingly, I have stumbled upon this news on Russia Today rather than any Western MSM.

Josef Majd added: “Allow me to say that I am very proud of all of you and send you my greetings and love from all of you Palestine Gaza Each of supporting the Palestinian cause ye all the greats of what you are doing.”

Shaf Shafiq stated: “The whole world is applauding the actions and the stands taken by the fans of Celtic FC. Remember it was the few voices that grow into many that pressured our governments to stand against apartheid in South Africa.”

Mohammed Hassan admitted: “OMG so proud of you guys I’m Scottish and a celtic fan who forgot football you fans have reignited my passion in football and celtic. Proud to be Scottish mean to be a humans that care about others plight is beautiful.”

Fara Rgat said: “Amazing support! Please add more Palestinian charities (potentially health organizations from Gaza) to receive some of this support. Thank you so much from a Palestinian student.”

Alan Diamond added: “Humbling that Celtic fans are taking this stand and doing something practical for Palestinians. As a Forest supporter I remember UEFA cup in 1983 and meeting fantastic Celtic fans after the first leg. Have felt solidarity ever since. A priviledge to donate.”

Ramli Ibragim stated: “I am now a new CELTIC supporter From Malaysia.”

As kick off approaches and the fund gains momentum it is likely to go through the £150,000 barrier with more certain to follow once UEFA announce their punishment for the flag flying.
