Leigh Griffiths paid a touching tribute to tragic Kieran McDade during and after Celtic’s 4-1 win over Aberdeen today.

Griffiths opened the scoring after 13 minutes and immediately ran the length of the park to pick up and raise a t-shirt dedicated to Kieran who died yesterday while training with Dunbeath club in Coatrbridge.

Word spread quickly on social media about the tragedy with supporters shocked by the news.

A picture of McDade wearing a Celtic training top accompanied news of the terrible incident with Griffiths well aware of the power of social media.

Tributes poured in to the teenager with the gesture by Griffiths quickly gathering interest on social media.

The former Hibs striker was substituted in the 58th minute but at the final whistle returned behind the goal to pick up the t-shirt which he displayed to the crowd, heading towards the Green Brigade the leaving the pitch with the t-shirt showing RIP KIERAN 13.

Dunbeath have set up a just giving account to support the McDade family with over £11,000 raised within 24 hours of the tragedy.

On the park it was business as usual as Celtic demolished Aberdeen 4-1 with Griffiths, James Forrest, Tom Rogic and Scott Sinclair on target for the champions.

Adam Rooney levelled the scores in the 32nd minute but Forrest restored Celtic’s lead before the half time interval.

Celtic survived a few scares before goals in the last five minutes secured the points to put Celtic top of the table after three games- with a game in hand.
