Manchester City’s Sporting Director Txiki Begiristain has described his side’s Champions League draw as amazing.

All eyes will be on Pep Guardiola going back to the Nou Camp but there is plenty of intrigue in the other ties as well.

Last season City were in the same group as Borussia Mönchengladbach while in recent seasons they’ve sent Jason Denayer, John Guidetti and Patrick Roberts on loan to the Scottish champions.

Shortly after the draw was made Begiristain told UEFA.com: “Both games against Borussia Mönchengladbach were tough last year, even though we won them both. They are a very strong side and it’s going to be hard again.

It’s good for Pep [Guardiola] because he knows Borussia very well from his time at Bayern and Barcelona as well, so we will see. He had been back to Barça before with Bayern Munich so it’s not the first time he’s returned to the Camp Nou.

Celtic will be hard as well – I love watching Celtic play Rangers (you’ll never see that fixture again Texi) and games like that and they are friends of ours so, as I say, it’s an amazing group.”

City open up their campaign at home to Monchengladbach on September 13 with Celtic in the Nou Camp that night.

Two weeks later Guardiola’s squad come to Glasgow before the back-to-back matches against Barcelona.

City made the semi-final last season but lost out to Real Madrid, the same stage that Guardiola’s Bayern Munich lost out to Atletico Madrid
