Brendan Rodgers has saluted Celtic’s incredible start to the season- six weeks after watching the hoops lose 1-0 to Lincoln Red Imps.

The defeat in Gibraltar suggested that the Irishman had his work cut out to knock a side into shape with the group stage of the Champions League a distant dream.

With just four signings so far Rodgers has given Celtic fans their belief back with the hoops boss delighted by the way his side have reacted on the pitch.

It’s been a brilliant start for us,” he said after the 4-1 win over Aberdeen. “From when I first came in, to be sitting here in this position – to have played three really tough league games, two away from home in notoriously hard places and to get the points, and then after all the travel and all the emotion of this week, to come back in and play Aberdeen, who’ve got a good squad of players, an excellent coach and a week to prepare, to be as convincing as we were for the majority of the game makes us really pleased.

So we sit here in the quarter-final of the League Cup, three wins out of three in the league and qualified for the group stages of the Champions league, so we have to be happy.”

Rodgers will now turn his attention to the transfer market where he has four days to add to his squad before resuming domestic duties with a home match against newly promoted Sevco.
