Stefan Johansen is close to completing a £2m move to Fulham.

The midfielder is in the final year of his Celtic contract with no real signs of a new deal interesting either party.

Galatasaray were keen to sign Johansen earlier in the transfer window but that interest died down with the Turkish side refusing to pay more than £1.5m as a fee.

Johnansen joined Celtic in January 2014 and had an outstanding season in 2014/15 under Ronny Deila but tailed off significantly last season with both the Daily Mail and Daily Express reporting that he completed a medical in London last night.

If the deal is completed Johansen joins Anthony Stokes, Stefan Scepovic, Carlton Cole, Colin Kazim Richards and Darnell Fisher in the list of departures since Brendan Rodgers took over from Deila.

Further significant moves are expected over the next week as Rodgers looks to move players on to bring in his own signings.

The Celtic boss will never tout a player for a move but realises the way that the transfer market operates.

Speaking last month about Johansen he said: “This is a volatile period for players because there is uncertainty and it’s only when the stability comes and the window shuts down that you get certainty.

I always look at players and gauge whether they are happy and want to play for the club or not.

I have only known him this last week and a half and he has been excellent.

We shall see what happens. It is speculation but he is a player I’d like to keep for sure.

The club has to protect itself also. If a player clearly doesn’t want to be at a club and had a year to go, the market will tell you that you have to sell that player.”
