Luke Donnelly has joined the growing list of Celts at Alloa Athletic- signing on loan to the Wasps till the end of the year.

Ross Jack’s side have made an incredible start to the season, storming to the top of League One and into the last eight of the Betfred Cup where they face Celtic for a semi-final place.

Calum Waters will be one very familiar face to Donnelly after joining up in the summer after being freed by Celtic with Jim Goodwin, Jason Marr, Kevin Cawley and Greig Spence also at the Indodrill Stadium.

Reporting the loan deal the Alloa website stated: “Manager Jack Ross today strengthened his squad prior to the club’s visit to Coatbridge to play Albion Rovers in SPFL match tomorrow.

Young twenty year old Celtic striker, Luke Donnelly has joined “The Wasps” until the end of the year. Luke has been at Celtic since the age of eight, where he has progressed through the Youth Ranks, previouly having a brief spell on loan to East Stirling in Season 2014/15.

Last season Luke was a standout for the young hoops and helped the club win the Youth Cup, scoring 4 goals in semi-final victory over Hibernian and was again on the scoresheet in the final against Rangers in 5 – 2 victory.”

Donnelly’s career seemed to be going nowhere until he went on loan to East Stirling in January 2014, coming back to Celtic he dropped into the number 10 to devastating effect and featured in the first team’s pre-season matches at Paisley.

Unfortunately last season turned out to be a write off due to injury with the move to Alloa giving the bhoy from Cardonald a chance to kick start his career.
