Luke Donnelly scored on his Alloa debut as Ross Jack’s side won 4-0 at Albion Rovers to maintain their incredible start to the season.

It was the fourth straight win for Alloa as they attempt to bounce back from last season’s relegation.

Donnelly only joined up with the part-timers on Friday and replaced Jordan Kilpatrick in the 61st minute. Seven minutes later he found the target with ex-Celt Calum Waters also among the scorers.

In the Championship Jamie Lindsay and Aidan Nesbitt had a day to forget as Morton lost 4-0 to Hibs at Easter Road.

Joe Thomson also suffered defeat with the midfielder substituted after 70 minutes as Dumbarton lost out to Falkirk whose goal came from Lee Miller in the 86th minute.

Completing the Championship misery for the loan bhoys Paul McMullan was a half time substitute for Dunfermline as they lost 1-0 at home to Queen of the South.

Dropping back to League One Fiacre Kelleher‘s Peterhead side made the long journey to Stranraer where they lost 1-0 to the home side.

The misery continued in England where Scott Allan (and Darnell Fisher) were in the Rotherham side hammered 4-0 by Barnsley in a Yorkshire derby.

After the match manager Allan Stubbs said: “We have to look at ourselves, it has to mean more than it is showing at the moment. When you go 1-0 down the most important thing is to make sure you don’t concede a second.

“We have had a chat about it at the end, it’s not about ranting and raving, it’s about all of us taking collective responsibility.

“Today is obviously very disappointing. If the players aren’t prepared to work hard then we will have players out and have players in. There may be more going out than I originally expected.”

Back in Scotland ex Celt Tony Watt scored a last minute winner for Hearts away to Partick Thistle.
