Joe Thomson followed Jamie Lindsay with a scoring debut for Dumbarton today.

Unfortunately for the loan bhoy his 18th minute goal came in a 4-3 defeat for Dumbarton away to Dunfermline but playing in front of almost 3,500 fans.

Dumbarton’s other two goals both came from stoppage time penalties converted by Mark Docherty, the second one for a foul on Thomson.

It was a promising start for the new bhoy who has been one of the driving forces of the Celtic Development side over the last three seasons.

Announcing the loan deal on Friday the Dumbarton website stated: β€œThe 19-year-old is highly rated by Celtic and was a key part of the Development Squad that finished the SPFL Development League as undefeated title-winners last season.

β€œDescribed as a box-to-box midfielder, Thomson has been capped at Under-19 level for Scotland.

β€œManager Stevie Aitken is delighted to bring in Joe, who has a great deal of potential, to bolster his squad ahead of the league campaign starting on Saturday.”

Paul McMullan was a 70th minute substitute for Dunfermline.

At Paisley Lindsay played for 77 minutes into Morton’s 1-1 draw with Renfrewshire rivals St Mirren, Thomas O’Ware opened the scoring for Morton in the 17th minute with John Sutton equalising for the home side with seven minutes left to play.

In the top flight Michael Duffy helped Dundee to a 3-1 win away to Ross County with Paul McGowan scoring Dundee’s third goal.

Before his Betfred Cup trip to Ibrox Fiacre Kelleher had a day to forget as Peterhead lost 4-0 away to Alloa Athletic.
