Furious Mark Warburton has hit out at newspaper coverage of his faltering side.

The former city trader seems to be getting more distressed by the day and claimed that he read a newspaper that devoted 20 pages to his side’s 2-1 defeat at Aberdeen.

After the glory of last season’s romp to win the Championship and splashing out on 12 better players during the transfer window it seems that life with the big boys of Ross County and Kilmarnock is becoming too much for the Londoner.

What they’re dealing with, in a very polite way, is you guys (the media),” he claimed unconvincingly.

Clint Hill with his vast experience and where he’s played at, Niko Kranjcar, vastly experienced internationally as well, they are staggered by the amount of focus on Rangers and Celtic.

But that’s Glasgow. It’s a gold fish bowl and it takes some getting used to.

Every goal is scrutinised, every miss is scrutinised. I had a guest in from Fleet Street earlier in the week. a big guy who came up and was staggered that there was 20-odd pages on the Aberdeen game. He couldn’t get his head round it and he is a senior sports writer. But it is Glasgow.”

Going into further detail he added: “It’s Rangers – it’s the stature of the club. People come from clubs down south and it’s hard to realise the size and the scale of Rangers until you get here and you do the media and read the papers every day. Then you understand the scrutiny.

Until they get here, it’s hard. When Tottenham play Arsenal, there will be a bit in the Evening Standard and then it’s on to the next thing because there are so many other teams in London and England. But here, the scrutiny and the focus is more on the team. And whatever you say, it does take time to adjust to it. That’s the honest truth.

It’s not intrusive, not in a bad way – great fans, great people, but it’s just a different level of focus. It’s hard to get used to that. Everything is scrutinised. It took me a few months.

You guys know it. That’s the way it is. You guys live and breathe it every day, but when you come from outside … Andy Halliday lives and breathes it. Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace know exactly what it is.

When you’re Clint, or you’re Niko, or you’re Rob Kiernan last year, or you’re Jordan Rossiter … Jordan has come from Liverpool and gone ‘bloody hell’.

Warbo’s all stars have a relegation six pointer against Partick Thistle tomorrow.
