Tom Rogic is on his way back to Glasgow unscathed after 63 minutes of international football for Australia against UAE in Abu Dhabi.

The Celtic midfielder was substituted by Massimo Luongo just past the hour mark with the game tied at 0-0.

With fifteen minutes left to play another sub, Tim Cahill scored the only goal of the game to give Australia a vital win.

The points give the Socceroos full points from two matches and on course for another appearance in the finals of the World Cup which will be staged in Russia.

With the match staged in the UAE, Rogic will be able to get a direct flight back to Glasgow to prepare for Saturday’s match against Sevco and the Champions League group match away to Barcelona.

Rogic recently signed a three year contract extension and has been in scoring form this season earning a starting place in Brendan Rodgers first team plans.

After signing his new deal the midfielder said: “It’s a great time to be at the club, and for me to have my future sorted and know that I’m going to be working with the manager for the coming seasons is great.

The manager’s had a say in me re-signing here, and he has played a big role in me deciding to stay here, and you can tell he’s a top-class manager.

“I still feel that I have a lot to give and I know that, under him, I can develop and progress and contribute to the team’s success.”
