Andrew Dallas will referee Celtic’s SPFL match with Dundee on Saturday.

It is the first time that Dallas, son of shamed anti-catholic bigot Hugh, has taken charge of a league match involving the hoops although he did referee Celtic’s Scottish Cup tie at Stranraer.

Despite never taking charge of a Celtic match Dallas Jnr is in his second season on the elite FIFA list giving him appointments across Europe.

So far this season he has been in charge of four top tier matches with his most recent appointment being the 2-2 draw between Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle that produced four yellow and one red card.

In December 2013 he hit the headlines when he forgot to report a booking for Ian Black against Stranraer that allowed the midfielder to avoid a suspension.

Straight after the match the Sevco website produced a story about Black being suspended but with the booking missing from Dallas’ match report the midfielder escaped punishment.

A year earlier Kenny Shiels provided video evidence to contradict a charge made against him by Dallas in his role as a fourth official.

After overturning a suspension the then Kilmarnock boss said: “It was thrown out because things were fabricated against me that weren’t true by the fourth official but he didn’t know I had visual evidence on camera from our match clips that made him out to be totally inaccurate.

I was disappointed that he used the situation to justify me being sent off and to try and get me in trouble. Has Mr Dallas apologised? No and I don’t expect it.

I hate it when people call me controversial because I’m not. I’m honest. I’m the same with my wife and my family as I am as a manager. I’m just truthful.

And nobody will ‘do me’ by telling lies about me and accusing me of being untruthful. Someone has tried to impinge on my character — big, big style. I’m just disappointed he tried to ‘get me’ in a manipulative and devious way. I’m not happy.”
