The League Managers Association has issued a statement as speculation mounts as to which managers are involved in the transfer bung scandal.

According to the Daily Telegraph eight recent Premier League managers have been named by an agent as looking for bungs to complete transfers.

Today is media conference day in the Premier League with the bung story set to dominate the agenda with Sam Allardyce the first victim.

The LMA is extremely concerned by the current situation of allegations made against a number of managers,” they announced yesterday. “We take the allegations very seriously as they are obviously damaging to the game.

We are in regular communication with The FA to establish the facts relating to those allegations. We know The FA has requested full disclosure, from the Telegraph, of all the relevant information it has and we are working with The FA in dealing with the allegations, following the correct processes and procedures.

With regard to Sam Allardyce’s departure from his role at The FA, the LMA was in regular communication with Sam and The FA throughout the process. We fully respect the decision that they have mutually agreed.”

Allardyce was ‘mutually consented’ within 24 hours of a report alleging that he offered to help a foreign consortium get around FA regulations.

The Telegraph has been running with the story this week as it shines a torch on the murky side of the game.

With every top flight club guaranteed at least £100m it seems that more and more unscrupulous types are being attracted to get a slice of the action.
