Brendan Rodgers has spoken out about the passion of players and supporters inspire each other.

The Irishman has transpired the atmosphere at Celtic Park and is feeding off the passion of the hoops support.

Wednesday’s draw with Manchester City brought attention to the issue with everyone involved commenting on the special atmosphere that the game was played in.

Before during and after the 90 minutes the Celtic support provided their team with a 12th man which Rodgers was quick to recognise.

In my travels around the game over many years I hear players talk about ‘The atmosphere’s not very good here’, at whatever club it happens to be,” the Irishman explained.

But you have to create the atmosphere out on the pitch. You create what comes from the stand. If you play slow football with no creativity, what do the fans have to sing about?

Coming here it’s about making the fans happy, to make them proud of the team, to make the team aggressive. You have to represent them. You are wearing the shirt.

If the fans stepped out of the stand they would give their life. They would be running up and down the pitch all day, tackling and fighting.

On the pitch you have to create what happens in the stands, and that’s what the team is doing, and the supporters are getting joy from watching them.”

There are a few quotes there that sound like the words of Jock Stein, with his team thrilling on the park Rodgers enthusiasm and insight into the meaning of Celtic will create many more nights like Wednesday.
