Davie Weir has sent a message to Willie Collum that the Sevco players will keep their cool on Saturday.

The Ibrox number two escaped punishment on many occasions as he stoked up the passions then slipped out of sight as others paid the price.

Collum will take charge of Saturday’s derby match with Weir quick out the blocks to promise that his players will be on the right side of the laws.

The former Sheffield United boss told Sky Sports News: “We preach to the players to be in control and make the right decisions at the right time so it’s obviously heightened in this game for obvious reasons. but we trust the players to do the right things and to handle the football side and the emotional side of it.

“We are looking forward to this game, everyone is talking about it. This game is important, it stands alone as a fixture, but you have to treat it the same way as you would other matches.”

The newly formed club are long odds against with the bookies as they make their first ever visit to the home of the five times champions.

A home win would see the tax payers move four points clear of their city rivals- with a game in hand over Partick Thistle to be arranged- with Weir well aware of how significant the 90 minutes will be.

“Obviously we are giving Celtic respect as they have talented players both offensively and defensively,” Warbo’s assistant added. “There’s no doubt about that. We have to counter that and deal with that but ultimately we have to challenge them at the other end as well.

“So it is just about getting that balance right which is what we do week in, week out. We analyse the opposition, give them respect but also focus on ourselves as well.”
