Tom Rodgic wants to see Australia drive through home advantage when they face Japan on Tuesday.

The midfielder is in the form of his life having nailed down a place in both the Celtic and Australia teams.

Rogic was the man-of-the-match in Australia’s 2-2 draw away to Saudi Arabia on Friday and would love to reach the 2018 World Cup Finals after missing out in 2014 through injury.

One point separates Australia, Saudi Arabia, Japan and UAE at the top of group B with a home win on Tuesday essential to keep the Socceroos on coarse for another appearance in the finals.

Rogic spent part of 2014 on loan to Melbourne Victory and is looking forward to home comforts on Tuesday.

It’s always nice when you play at home,” the Celtic midfielder said. “It’s something we’re looking forward to, any opportunity really.

We’re certainly going to need their support, it’s going to be a difficult match.”

Australia are strongly fancied to win on Tuesday with Japan going into the game on the back of a 2-1 home defeat from UAE. In their previous two qualifiers they enjoyed wins over Iraq and Thailand who have both failed to take a point from any match.

After the match on Tuesday Rogic will travel back to Glasgow for Celtic’s SPFL match with Motherwell before turning his attention to the Champions League with Borussia Monchengladbach visiting Glasgow.
