After being duped into parting with £20m that he had hidden from the South Adrican Revenue Service it’s fair to say that Dave King isn’t much of a fan of Dave Murray.

There has been occasional comments about the former Rangers (IL) owner from the South African based tax crook including an empty threat about legal action over his failed investment.

Losing to Celtic at Hampden won’t have worried King too much, if he cared he’d have been at the match but being goaded by a pal of Murray may just prove too much for King to resist.

Graeme Souness could hardly have been more direct with his criticism of the current Ibrox power-broker, it was basically a plea of ‘Show us your money’.

Murray and Souness have never been far apart even after Souness walked away from Ibrox in the spring of 1991. Murray warned that it would be the biggest regret of the new Liverpool manager’s career.

Business continued to flow between the pair as Souness managed at Blackburn and Newcastle with an EBT payment also made out of friendship.

Souness may offer his views on King and Mark Warburton but you’ll never hear a word of criticism directed at his former chairman. The man that ran up the bank debts, who played the EBT game and who took a pound coin from Craig Whyte in May 2011.

Although King is far from the action, and hasn’t been seen at Ibrox since the opening day of the season, he’ll be getting kept upto speed about the deteriorating position of the club.

With Souness taunting him over his failure to stop Celtic, King has got two options- come up with £30m or hit back at Souness and the pal that he will never criticise.

The problems at Ibrox date back to the demands of Souness and a chairman whose ego needed regular attention.

The legacy of delusion now falls to King. With his failure to produce audited accounts and host an AGM it seems that Souness has chirped in at a most inconvenient time.
