Craig Gordon: No blame game

Craig Gordon has no doubt that Kolo Toure will bounce back from the double blunder that gifted Borussia Monchengadbach two goals at Celtic Park.

The former Liverpool defender has been a tower of strength since being recruited by Brendan Rodgers but there are no margins for error at the highest level.

Almost single handedly Toure held Celtic together during the second half of the play-off tie against Hapoel Beer Sheva before turning in a master-class in the 3-3 draw with Manchester City.

Gladbach showed no mercy as they cashed in on two mistakes to silence Celtic Park and claim their first points of the competition.

Visiting Germany in a fortnight’s time looks an ominous task but Gordon is confident that his defensive colleague will bounce back to his best.

Kolo will be fine, he will get his body back into shape after the game and go again,” the keeper said.

He’s a great player. You saw three weeks ago when he was fantastic against Man City, and one of the big reasons we took a point. No one in the dressing room is pointing any fingers.

It’s a team thing. We accept it together as a group. We are not going to single anyone out. We probably didn’t play well enough to win the match.

We had one or two little chances, like Scott Sinclair’s in the first half, that had we taken things might have been different but we didn’t create enough as a team to put the pressure on.

Regardless of how we conceded, we take it as a team. We will make sure everyone is up and ready to go for the next game.”

One very obvious consolation for Celtic was the form of Gordon who looks back towards his best.

The arrival of Dorus de Vries looked like costing the former Sunderland keeper the chance to play in the Champions League but since returning to the side against Manchester City Gordon has recorded two domestic lean sheets and looked assured in the games against City and Gladbach.
