Brendan Rodgers’ first team stars will be back in bed before the returning supports buses reach Aviemore tonight.

Straight after the match the hoops will head to Inverness Airport for a flight to Glasgow rather than take in the ‘delights’ of the A9 by night.

Within the space of seven days Celtic travel to Ross County, Aberdeen and Borussia Monchengladbach with Rodgers planning everything down to the last detail.

We considered staying in Dingwall, training and then on to Aberdeen,” the Celtic boss explained. “But we’re going to have a nice drive up, enjoy the scenic route in the afternoon and then we’re going to fly back after the game.

That will get us back in the early hours of the morning, get a good rest and then we’ll train later on Thursday.

We’ll train as normal on Friday then go up to Aberdeen and come back on Saturday night and we’re away to Germany on Monday.

It’s a lot but that’s where the recovery strategy is vital for your players and that starts straight after the game in the changing room with how you refuel but the sports science boys take care of that.

I have to be mindful of making changes to the team. It’s something the staff and I’ll look at. I have trust in the guys who could come in.

That’s why they have to be on their guard every day in training, because they can be asked to come in and play. I have no qualms if I have to make changes.”

The cluttered schedule will end with a home match against Inverness Caley Thistle before the November winter break but December promises to be a month that will test Rodgers’ squad to the full.

With rescheduled matches against Hamilton Accies and Partick Thistle thrown into the list the hoops will play nine matches between December 3 and 31.

Celtic’s appearance in the final of the Betfred Cup means that the home match with St Johnstone on November 26 has been postponed. The Hampden final against Aberdeen follows four days after the Champions League clash with Barcelona.
