Ibrox was a scene of celebration today as Sevco racked up their record top flight victory.

Partick Thistle were the victims as Mark Warburton’s side cruised to an emphatic 2-0 win.

First half goals from Nico Kranjcar and Andy Halliday did the damage for the Ibrox side as Warbo, who used to work as a city trader, celebrated in the directors box.

A foul mouthed rant at referee John Beaton after the 2-1 defeat at Aberdeen led to a one match suspension with Davie Weir taking the after match media duties.

We’ve spoken the last few weeks about performances and not getting the result, and I think today it was probably more about the result than it was about the performance”, admitted the former Sheffield United flop.

“Ideally you get both, but if we’re being honest, the result was probably more important. It was different being on the touchline. It was unusual. I was in contact with the manager via the phone but we’re very similar in our thoughts and we know the team well enough to know what’s going well, what’s not going well, what we need to be better at. Our views are very similar.

“Hopefully he’ll be back on the touchline next week and I’ll enjoy being back on the bench.”

The win catapulted Sevco into the top half of the table but they trail Aberdeen by three points in the battle for second place.

In their previous top flight wins Sevco had beaten Dundee and Motherwell 2-1. Today’s victory ended a four match run without a win which is also a club record.

On October 14 Sevco travel to face Inverness Caley Thistle in a clash between the two youngest clubs in the top flight.
