Lee Griffiths has a special wish

Lee Griffiths would love the chance to team up in attack with Moussa Dembele.

The former Hibs striker started the season on fire but since being ruled out through injury has had to play second fiddle to the on form Frenchman.

On paper the partnership of Griffiths and Dembele seems perfect but Brendan Rodgers has yet to be won round to the argument.

The Irishman prefers to start with a 4-2-3-1 formation that leaves room for just one striker although Griffiths has joined Dembele in attack after coming off the bench.

With three in-form players supporting the sole striker it’s impossible to argue with Rodgers formation but if he feels the need to tinker Griffiths is certain that a twin strike force would be a success.

There’s been a lot of talk about the manager fitting us both into the team,” he admitted. “That’s up to him, whether he can or can’t. If not, I will sit on the bench and wait for my chance.

Could he play with both of us against Rangers? That’s a question for the manager. Would I like to see it? Of course I would as it would mean I am back in the team.

Both of us up top against Rangers is something that the fans would want to see. Rangers wouldn’t be expecting it, they would be surprised it but the two people who would find it most enjoyable would be myself and Moussa because we could go and run riot.”

Griffiths missed the home match with Sevco on September 10 after being forced to take a scan on a niggling hamstring strain.

Dembele stepped in to score a hat-trick and cement his place in the side despite the return to fitness of last season’s 40 goal striker.
