Derek McInnes believes that Celtic has the firepower to blow away the rest of the SPFL.

Twelve months ago Ronny Deila’s side were heavily reliant on the goals of Leigh Griffiths but that has all changed under Brendan Rodgers.

Griffiths will start tomorrow’s match on the bench with McInnes envious of the firepower his opposite number can call upon.

Jason Denayer and Virgil van Dijk were probably the best defensive pairing the Premiership has seen for a long time, but perhaps Celtic didn’t have the firepower at the time,” the Aberdeen manager said.

Last year they were so reliant on Leigh Griffiths, but now Sinclair looks like he can score 25 goals in the league this season.

Dembele will score something like that as well – maybe more – and Griffiths is still capable of that, so you are potentially talking 70 goals between three players. It doesn’t sound too far fetched and that is a lot to stop.”

Last season Aberdeen beat Celtic twice at Pittodrie having suffered a whitewash of four defeats the previous term.

Those victories took the title race into the post split fixtures before Celtic could finally claim their fifth successive title.

A home win tomorrow would cut the gap down to four points but all importantly for McInnes give other clubs hope that they can topple the hoops.

I would like to think that they are not unbeatable,” the Aberdeen boss added. “I still believe we can beat them and we can only make it uncomfortable for them when we play them.

Hopefully it maybe takes a couple of defeats for other teams to get more confidence against them because at the minute it’s not really about what the opposition are doing.”
