Scott Sinclair has admitted that leaving Aston Villa has given his game a new lease of life.

The re-born Celtic joined Villa on loan when Paul Lambert was in charge, signed a permanent deal for Tim Sherwood, flopped under Remi Garde, was relegated with Eric Black and sold by Roberto di Matteo.

Last week, under new boss Steve Bruce, Villa won their first back-to-back matches in 18 months when they saw off Reading and Fulham.

Sinclair has found a new lease of life after being reunited with former Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers and is getting used to playing in the Champions League as he prepares for his first ever domestic cup final.

Life in the Glasgow goldfish bowl seems to be to his liking as he attempts to put a season of despair into the past.

I felt in the summer the time was right for me to come to Celtic, and get my career back on track again,” he admitted. “That’s what I am doing now.

It was a tough period for me at Villa. I was in and out of the team and as an offensive player, it wasn’t easy.

We were struggling as a team, and when you do go in, you can’t really show your attributes.

I’m showing everything now. I’m scoring goals and creating chances, and that’s because I am in an attacking team that always plays on the front foot.

Game by game, I’m getting my form back and building my confidence. There’s a great atmosphere around Celtic and I’m just enjoying being here.

When you win games and have a great team spirit, it just makes it all more enjoyable. There is a real togetherness in this squad, we all have each other’s backs and I’m enjoying being here.”

In 16 matches for Celtic Sinclair has scored eight goals including a run of scoring in each of his first six SPFL matches.
