Brendan Rodgers was delighted to record his first SPFL clean sheet as Celtic ‘won ugly’ with a 1-0 victory at Dens Park.

Craig Gordon kept his place in the team after his midweek display against Manchester City and rewarded his gaffer with a clean sheet.

Dundee barely posed a threat to the hoops goal but the same could have been said of Inverness Caley Thistle during the second half of Celtic’s previous away match.

Rodgers admitted that it was probably a mistake to drop Gordon for Dorus de Vries with the Irishman happy to highlight the contribution of the former Hearts keeper today.

I was delighted with Craig Gordon today and this is what this way of working does, hopefully it improves players,” the Celtic boss stated.

I think you saw Craig with his distribution today, how he was composed, calm and came for crosses and defended his goal very well.”

Turning to goal hero Scott Brown, Rodgers added: “He is critical to this team, he is a wonderful footballer, you saw some of his numbers through the week against Manchester City, who are a high pressing team.

“The accuracy of his passing, I’ve been really, really impressed by Scott.

“It was a really good move for the goal, we showed patience, we played it back to play through then he finished off a great move.”
