Erik Sviatchenko’s image is featuring on the training kit of his for childhood club Sondermarken IK.
The cosmopolitan defender has settled quickly into life at Celtic but retains a strong connection with his Danish roots.
While many players keep their twitter comments short and sweet Sviatchenko uses social media to the full, sharing and communicating with others while promoting the causes that he feels strongly about.
The 25-year-old only spent one season playing for Søndermarken IK on his route into the professional game at Midtjylland where he spent five seasons before moving to January earlier this year.
Sviatchenko turned down the chance to play for Midtjylland against Manchester United when he moved to Glasgow but has enjoyed the consolation of playing in the Champions League.
At Hampden yesterday his position as first choice central defender for Brendan Rodgers was confirmed when he partnered Jozo Simunovic against Sevco having played alongside Kolo Toure four days earlier against Borussia Monchengladbach.

After facing the German side Sviatchenko admitted: “We need to be focused and move on after the game against Monchengladbach. It’s all about learning. I know we’re a big team but the manager is still fairly new and we are getting things underneath our skin.
“You’ll see this new Celtic team emerge. We need to accept it will take time, even though we want it to happen in a split second.
“However, I believe this team in the months and years ahead will be much, much better. You can see we are improving, improving, improving. Sometimes it will take a loss or a draw or a victory and then we will see it.
“It shouldn’t be a problem to lift ourselves for Rangers after Borussia. The game on Sunday would be characterised as one of our biggest games of the season and if you don’t have what it takes to be ready for those matches then you shouldn’t be playing football.”
