There’s no doubting which pundit has had the biggest impact on Scottish football this season- and he’s hard to miss with stints on BT Sport, a column in the Daily Record and a fast growing following on twitter.

With his final ever appearance on Radio Clyde he also put a few choice comments to Derek Johnstone Step forward Chris Sutton- or the evil genius as many Celtic fans label the former hoops striker.

The storm over Sutton started fairly quietly as he voiced the opinion of many that Craig Thomson had bottled out of sending off Harry Forrester during the Dundee v Sevco match.

Petulant Thomson then took things to a new level by blanking out co-operation with BT Sport the following weekend at the St Johnstone v Celtic match.

Referees may feel they are the stars of the show but without the funding of broadcasters, who operate to deliver audiences to advertisers, there would be a very different game for Thomson and his cronies to pick up a second wage from.

On the morning of the first Glasgow derby Sutton asked whether Warbo was another Ronny Deila- a disciple of one particular system and unable to adapt or vary away from it.

Ninety minutes later Sutton had his answer with the magic hat losing 5-1 to Celtic despite desperate claims that there was no gulf between the sides and that it hadn’t been a ‘5-1 game’. The record books and bookmakers would suggest otherwise.

Warbo has thrown a few comments back at Sutton but took things to a new level when he refused to speak to BT Sport after his side’s win at Inverness Caley Thistle. A subsequent claim that ‘he had things to do’ further destroyed the fading credibility of the former city trader.

Sutton wasn’t slow to offer his opinion on Sunday’s match with Warbo’ hard luck story and claims of improvement taken apart on twitter and in the Record.

Tonight BT Sport will be covering the action from the Ross County v Celtic match with Sutton on air and on mic from 7pm to discuss the burning issues- among them two old favourites- Warburton and Thomson.

It promises to be a lively night on air, if St Johnstone get a favourable result at Ibrox Warbo would be well advised to avoid a re-run of the after match home truths delivered by BT Sport’s top pundit.
