Warburton’s feeble excuse for BT snub

Cowardly Mark Warburton has denied that he deliberately snubbed BT Sport after his side’s 1-0 win over Inverness Caley Thistle.

The former city trader blanked a request for a pre-match interview then had ‘a couple of things to do’ when he skipped an after match interview.

Since he took charge at Ibrox the former Brentford boss has made himself available for interview by broadcasters as he attempts to gain a profile down south for future job opportunities.

At every televised match Warbo has conducted pre and post match interviews for the broadcaster but two days after being dragged out of a media conference by James Traynor he suddenly made himself busy.

BT Sport are unlikely to have things to do when it comes to paying the SPFL their monthly cheque with an enquiry underway as to why Warbo refused his contracted obligation.

Explaining last week’s no show he said: “Again I’m bemused by the media. The fact is on Friday I had a couple of things I had to do. Every manager gets busy.

If you lose a game, for example, you can stay in the changing room and berate the team. Some managers will do that, so what happens then?

From my point of view, I had a couple of things I had to do and there is no issue or personal spat with BT Sport. Far from it.

“I’ve always been very accommodating, they’ve been good to work with so I’m bemused by some of the articles.”

With his head in the sands approach and attempts to create a rift with the media Warburton is on thin ice as he plays games that he has no experience of.
