Scott Brown followed up his stunning display against Manchester City by turning goalscorer in the 1-0 win over Dundee at Dens Park.

While the regular strikeforce had an off day Broony tucked away a half chance in the 47th minute to keep Celtic four points clear at the top of the table- with a game in hand.

When Brendan Rodgers arrived some pundits predicted the end of the road for the midfielder but after dinner with the new gaffer a special bond has been created.

Brown is playing as well as he ever has with his boss not shy to praise his voice on the park.

“If you look at Scotty’s performance level and his energy that he puts into every single training day and game, he’s very inspiring for his team-mates,” the Celtic boss said.

He started the move. We built the game, we had good positions. He got on the ball, we worked it and he arrived into the box with a great finish. In the last week, he has shown what a top player he really is.

I looked at him on Wednesday night. This is a guy playing against some of the top midfield players in the world and one of the top teams in Europe, and he dominated the midfield.

Not only that, against a team that really press the game well, his ability to pass the ball – this is the one of the things we have been talking to him about – looking after the ball. Whether it’s British or Scottish players, you can play football. You aren’t just runners and just chasing it – you can do that – but you can play.  Scott is a wonderful demonstration of that.

He’s highly gifted technically and tactically he’s really impressed me, and physically you saw him today and you have seen him in other games that he’s super strong and super fit. He’s also a tough guy mentally. He deserves all the credit he gets. He’s a wonderful captain for me and I still think he can improve.”
