Celtic fan Stephen McLeish has produced a classic video clip that captures the tension, magic and celebration of Moussa Dembele’s penalty against Borussia Monchengladbach.
With the hoops trailing by a goal Dembele was rugby tackled by Julian Korb as he tried to shoot at goal. Fortunately referee Manuel De Sousa was on the case quickly with Korb sent off despite the rule change brought in during the summer.
Stephen’s video perfectly captures the tension and the wait for Dembele to take the penalty- before he rolls the ball to the left of goalkeeper Jann Sommer and the celebrations kick in among the travelling supporters.
Across the world Celtic fans held their breath waiting for Dembele to take the penalty with the memory of his miss in the Nou Camp flashing through their minds.
This time there was no mistake as he demonstrated the same touch that put Celtic into the Champions League play off by netting at home to Astana.
A fortnight ago it was being noted how Dembele hadn’t scored away from Celtic Park but as his tally for the season moves onto 16 he can look back on goals at Hampden, Victoria Park Dingwall and now Borussia Park.
