True Blue Andy Halliday left Tynecastle sickened on Wednesday night after another big match flop from his boyhood idols.
Since becoming the first team in 114 years to lose a Scottish Cup Final to Hibs Halliday has been on the pitch as his side were beaten twice by Celtic, Aberdeen and now Hearts.
The #goingfor55 campaign has quietly been abandoned with lifelong fan Halliday, who used to play for Bradford, feeling the pain of repeated failures more than most.
The 25-year-old, who was brought up in a Rangers daft family, has also had to endure demoralising draws against Hamilton Accies St Johnstone, Kilmarnock and twice against Ross County.
With that sort of record the Ibrox fanatic ought to be quite familiar with disappointment but losing to Hearts to stay eight points behind Celtic with three games more played was still a sickener.
“There’s a manner in which you lose and Wednesday was unacceptable,” the boyhood Rangers (IL) fan revealed to The Sun. “What was supposed to be a 15-minute analysis ended up as a hour-long heated debate and rightly so.
“It has to be ironed out. At the end of the day we’ve got to put words into practice. Thankfully we have a game at the weekend to put it right.
“On Wednesday we just didn’t do that. It was probably one of the most disappointing performances since I’ve been here.We have been letting the manager and fans down. We’ve now had a lengthy discussion and analysis.
“As players we’ve got to understand game management. When we know teams are set up a certain way we have to find a solution.
“We’ve got numerous solutions which we can go through to try and beat the press and get out and play but on Wednesday we sort of abandoned it after the first one and played into Hearts’ hands.”
Tomorrow Halliday will be hoping to avoid losing at home to Aberdeen and dropping down to fourth place,
