Besiktas have formally complained to UEFA about Craig Thomson.
The Scottish referee had a nightmare performance as the Turkish side lost 6-0 away to Dinamo Kiev which cost them a place in the knock out phase of the Champions League.
Besiktas’ main complaint was the 29th minute red card issued to Andreas Beck after a run of the mill challenge in the penalty box which seemed to involve a foul from a Kiev forward.
Incredibly Thomson decided to award a penalty them sent Beck off leaving Besiktas with ten men and two goals down after the penalty was converted.

The whole of Turkish society seems to have taken exception to Thomson’s performance with Besiktas formally complaining to UEFA yesterday.
Beck’s ordering off and the penalty are at the centre of the complaint with Besiktas also unhappy about a number of other aspects of Thomson’s performance.
Tonight Thomson will referee the match between Partick Thistle and Celtic.
